Ponce de Leon LTC RRG, Inc. was the first Risk Retention Group in the nation to provide General and Professional Liability insurance to long-term care facilities. It was formed in 2002 with support from the State to help Florida nursing homes and other long-term care facilities meet the State requirement for liability insurance. The Company has grown into a market leader with more than 750 facilities insured. RRGs are companies whose stockholders are owners of Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living facilities. They are authorized under the Risk Retention Act of 1981, amended in 1986, that allows RRGs licensed in a single state to operate in other states without additional licensing.

  • In todays litigious environment, long-term care facility operators require the protection of General and Professional Liability insurance.
  • Some major, traditional insurers have withdrawn from this business while others have restricted availability through pricing volatility and onerous terms/conditions.
  • Markets available today on favorable terms may change for the worse tomorrow.
  • The answer for owners is to take control of their own destiny by capitalizing a Risk Retention Group to assure them of a stable market and provide the opportunity to share in the profits of the company.
